Over 100 km of waymarked trails linking villages, monasteries and beaches.
Sifnos is one of the best Cycladic islands for walking. An old network of stone paths, once the only way between the villages, has been cleared and waymarked into a system of numbered routes covering more than 100 kilometres. You can walk ridge to ridge between white villages, down to quiet coves, or out to clifftop monasteries, mostly on genuine old footpaths rather than roadside verges.

The routes are numbered and signposted, branching out from Apollonia and the other villages. They range from easy twenty-minute strolls to half-day crossings, and most are walkable in the shoulder months without too much heat. Paths are stone-laid in places and rougher in others; good shoes and water matter more than technical skill.
Two of the most rewarding short walks both start in Apollonia: the path to Kastro (around 45 minutes) drops gently through farmland to the medieval village and the sea, while the trail to Vathi (about an hour and a half) crosses the interior to a sheltered bay with tavernas and a beachside monastery. Other routes link Chrysopigi, Faros and the chapels along the south coast. Local walking maps and the signposts make it easy to mix and match.

Spring and the shoulder months (May to June and September to October) are ideal: warm but not baking, with green hillsides early in the season. In July and August, walk early in the morning or late in the afternoon and carry plenty of water. There's little shade on the open stretches.
Several trailheads are within easy reach of Platis Gialos and the villa, and the coastal path linking Platis Gialos, Faros and Chrysopigi is an easy, scenic option close to home. Ask Elena and she'll point you to walks that suit your pace and the time of year, and help with a map.
Very — it has over 100 km of waymarked footpaths on old stone trails linking villages, monasteries and beaches, making it one of the best Cyclades islands for walking.
The waymarked network totals more than 100 km of numbered routes, from short twenty-minute strolls to half-day village-to-village crossings.
Two favourites start in Apollonia: the gentle 45-minute path down to Kastro, and the roughly 90-minute crossing to Vathi bay. The coastal path near Platis Gialos to Faros and Chrysopigi is an easy scenic option.
May–June and September–October are ideal — warm but not too hot. In high summer, walk early or late and carry plenty of water, as there's little shade.
Villa Olivia Clara sits above Platis Gialos, close to the coastal trails. Tell Elena your dates and she'll help you plan walks alongside the beaches and villages.
