Frequently Asked Questions

What guests ask us before they come

The housePlanning your stayGetting herePractical detailsWhat are the phone numbers of Sifnos public services?

The house

Eight in beds, across four bedrooms. Two king beds, four singles, 4.5 bathrooms. An infant in a cot does not count towards the eight, and we have a travel cot and a high chair on request.

Yes. It is 12 × 5 m, on the sea-facing side of the house, with two stone cabanas, one of them over the pool and the other the bar. No fence, no cover, no alarm. It sits off the main terrace, so with small children someone has to be watching.

No, it is not heated. The villa opens in mid-May and closes at the end of September, and across those months the pool takes its temperature from the weather.

7 to 10 minutes on foot, downhill. The walk back up is the only hard part. Platis Gialos is a Blue Flag beach, about 700 metres of south-facing sand.

It takes families, and two things are worth weighing before you book. The pool is unfenced, with no cover, no alarm and no stair gate, so children are in your care around it. And the beach is 700 m down the lane, seven to ten minutes, with an uphill walk back. A travel cot and a high chair are here on request, an infant in a cot does not count towards the eight in beds, and all four bedrooms have air conditioning.

Yes, some. The house sits above Platis Gialos bay, so steps are part of it, and guests manage them without trouble. If stairs are a genuine consideration for anyone in your group, write to Elena before you book. She would rather tell you exactly what you will meet than have you find out on arrival.

They were firm, and two guests said so in their reviews. We added toppers, so the beds are softer now than the ones those reviews describe. If you have a strong preference either way, tell Elena before you arrive.

Yes, all four bedrooms have air conditioning. We ask guests to keep the doors closed while it runs and to switch it off in empty rooms.

Housekeeping comes twice a week, and we change the linen during your stay. If you would like it daily, ask Elena.

Check-in is from 4pm, check-out by 10am. Early check-in is sometimes possible when nobody stayed the night before, so ask Elena and she will tell you nearer the time.

We are not going to call our own house the best on the island. The house is 250 m² above Platis Gialos, with four bedrooms, a private pool, sea views from every terrace, and 45+ five-star reviews from the guests who have stayed. The pool-villa comparison on this site lists every private-pool villa on Sifnos, ours included.

For a group of four to eight it is a different holiday. You get the whole house, a pool nobody else uses, a full kitchen and far more space than four hotel rooms. Our cost guide does the sums with 2026 numbers.

Planning your stay

The whole house, sleeping eight, starts from €1,600 a night depending on the season. Tell Elena your dates and she will send an exact quote, and you book it with her.

A 30% deposit confirms the booking, and the balance is due 60 days before you arrive. Book inside that window and the whole amount is due when the booking is confirmed. You pay through our secure booking page, Elena sends the confirmation herself, and no security deposit is taken.

The season runs May to October. July and August are the hottest months and the busiest. In June and September the sea is warm and the days are calmer, with fewer people. The meltemi can blow through midsummer. Our best-time-to-visit guide goes month by month, with the sea temperatures.

Elena can point you to Ilias Anastasiadis, the chef we send guests to, and to in-villa dining, to A La Mer for the boats, to a car-hire agency and to the right wine. She recommends them and you book them yourself.

Ask Elena before you book. She takes celebrations one at a time. The house is a private home for up to eight guests, and it has been the base for wedding parties staying together, for bridal preparation and photographs, and for milestone birthdays and anniversaries.

Cancel 60 days or more before you arrive and you get everything back. Inside 60 days there is no refund, because by then the dates rarely sell again. If something outside anyone’s control affects the stay, write to Elena and she will work it out with you.

No. There is no deposit held and nothing to claim back at the end. If something is damaged we ask you to cover the repair or replacement at cost, against a valid third-party invoice.

Getting here

How can I travel to Sifnos?

There is no airport on Sifnos. Almost everyone arrives by ferry into Kamares, about 2.5 hours from Piraeus on the fast boat and about 5 on the conventional one. Hoper flies a scheduled helicopter from Athens airport in 35 to 40 minutes.

From there, book your ferry tickets online in advance. Public transport from the airport to the port is usually easy. We tell guests to take a taxi anyway and skip the delays.

Where can I rent a car in Sifnos?

Several agencies rent cars at Kamares, where the ferry docks, and a few more up in Apollonia. Most cars on the island are manual, and the automatics are few and go first, so book well ahead for July and August. Tell Elena your dates and she will point you to an agency she trusts.
