Every factual claim on this site, the distances, ferry times, temperatures, history, the island's food and its churches, was checked against credible sources. We grade those sources by reliability, with official and primary ones first and travel blogs last. Where a fact rests on our own knowledge as the owners, which covers the villa itself, our rates and our energy data, we say so. We fix mistakes when we find them, and if you spot one, please tell us.
The house, our rates, our meter readings, and the parts of the island we live on. We say so when a fact is ours.
The Municipality of Sifnos for village names and festival dates, sifnosbus.gr for the bus, ELSTAT for the census, the ferry companies' own 2026 timetables, Sifnos Trails for the footpaths. These beat any guide, ours included.
Island portals and food guides that have been publishing here for years. Reliable on what exists and where to find it. We check opening hours, prices and seasons again before we print them.
The large Greek travel sites, and the blogs of people who came and wrote it up. We use these to confirm a fact we already hold from higher up, and never as the only source for one.
We leave out pages that carry no author, no date and no sign that anyone visited. Some of them are quoted often by AI assistants. One of those, when we checked in August 2026, was wrong about the number of churches, the length of the footpath network and the crossing time from Piraeus.
