Sifnos Bus Timetable

Written by Elena Philippou,Updated August 2026

Every departure on the island's KTEL network, in something you can actually read on a phone.

Sifnos publishes its bus schedule as a photograph of a printed sheet, in Greek and Greeklish. It is the right information in the wrong format. So we retype it here every season, exactly as the municipality publishes it, and link straight to the original.

Which timetable this is

These are the official peak-summer times, valid 3 July 2026 – 31 August 2026. We last checked them against the source on 12 August 2026.

Published by the Municipality of Sifnos at sifnosbus.gr, where the original poster lives.

The short version

Where everything goes from
Apollonia. Almost every line starts, ends or passes through the capital, so most journeys mean changing there.
How you pay
You buy the ticket from the driver as you board. There is no ticket office to find first, so carry small notes and coins.
What it costs
Between €2.20 and €3.50 a journey, depending on distance.
The last buses
The last bus down to Platis Gialos leaves Artemonas at 22:00, and the last one back out of Platis Gialos goes at 22:30. Buses to the port run until midnight; the last one out of Kamares is 23:30.

The timetable

Times are departures from the first stop on each line, so a bus leaving Artemonas reaches Apollonia a few minutes later. The small numbers mark departures that run a different way; the note under each line spells it out.

Where the buses wait in Apollonia

Apollonia's stops sit within a minute of each other around the main square, and they are not interchangeable. Standing at the wrong one is the classic first-day mistake.

For Kamares, the port
In front of the Hellenic Post Office.
For Artemonas
Opposite the Hellenic Post Office.
For Platis Gialos, Chrysopigi, Faros and Vathi
In front of the Hotel Anthousa.
For Kastro
Opposite the Hotel Anthousa.

Things worth knowing

  • There is a long gap out of Kamares in the morning. After the 07:15 the next bus is at 09:30, which catches people off an early ferry.
  • The schedule is republished around four times a year. What you see here is the July and August peak service; spring and autumn run considerably thinner, and winter thinner again.
  • The network serves villages and the beaches attached to them: Kamares, Platis Gialos, Faros, Vathi and the Chrysopigi stop. The quiet coves and the trailheads are not on it.
  • A line changes shape through the day, as the footnotes show. If you are unsure the bus in front of you is yours, say the village name to the driver before you get on.

If you are staying with us

Villa Olivia Clara sits above Platis Gialos, and the Platis Gialos stop is a short walk down from the house, by the bay. The beach, Apollonia and the port are all on the same line.

For dinner up in Apollonia the timetable is tighter than it looks: the last bus back down leaves at 22:00, which is about when a Greek dinner gets going. Most of our guests drive up instead, or hire a car for a few days — here is what that involves.

Common questions about the Sifnos bus

Is there a bus from Kamares port to Platis Gialos?

Yes, on the line that runs Kamares to Apollonia to Artemonas and down to Platis Gialos. It goes roughly hourly from mid-morning until 23:30, with one long gap between the 07:15 and the 09:30. Every journey passes through Apollonia.

How much is the bus in Sifnos?

Between €2.20 and €3.50 a journey at the 2026 fares. Kamares to Platis Gialos, Vathi, Kastro, Faros or Cheronissos is €3.50; most journeys starting in Artemonas are €2.20. You pay the driver as you board.

Do the buses run in the evening?

Later than on most small islands. Buses to Kamares run until midnight and the last one out of the port is at 23:30, while Platis Gialos closes earlier, at 22:30. Outside July and August the evening service thins out.

Can I get around Sifnos without a car?

Based in Apollonia, Kamares or Platis Gialos, yes. Every main village is on the network, along with the beaches at Platis Gialos, Faros, Vathi and Chrysopigi. A car earns its keep if you want the quieter coves, the trailheads, or dinner at your own hour.

Where do I catch the bus in Apollonia?

Around the main square, at whichever stop matches your direction: the Hellenic Post Office for Kamares, opposite it for Artemonas, in front of the Hotel Anthousa for Platis Gialos, Chrysopigi, Faros and Vathi, and opposite the hotel for Kastro.

Is this timetable current?

It covers the window shown at the top of this page, and we check it against the municipality's own source. The operator republishes the schedule about four times a year, so if you are travelling outside that window, follow the link to the official poster.

A house above the bay

Villa Olivia Clara sleeps eight above Platis Gialos, a short walk up from the beach and its bus stop. Elena answers every message herself.
